The Foold was founded on a single conviction: that independent, rigorous journalism is not a luxury — it is infrastructure for a functioning democracy. In an era of algorithmic feeds and engagement-optimised outrage, we believe the world needs more journalism that is slow, careful and honest about what it does not know.
We cover what matters, not what trends. Our reporters work in 38 countries, and our editors are free to drop any story that does not meet our standards, whatever the commercial pressure. Our readers fund our journalism directly, which means we answer to them and no one else.
