What happened
A clean start and a strong finish took a tenth off a record that had stood since 2016. Coaches and team-mates described the performance as the result of a long, patient build-up rather than a single good day.
Why it matters
The result reshapes the season's standings and sets up a busy run of fixtures through the winter.
